Celebrating 45 Years of Impact

2026-2027, Our Stories

We are proud to celebrate a truly remarkable milestone — 45 years of dedicated service by Dorothy Collier at Georgetown Hospital.

Over the course of her volunteer journey, Dorothy has contributed more than 5,000 hours of her time, touching the lives of patients, staff, and visitors in ways that are difficult to measure. For many of those years, Dorothy was a familiar and welcoming presence at the coffee kiosk, where she logged an extraordinary 3,600 hours ensuring that staff and visitors could always count on a warm cup of coffee or tea, or a freshly baked treat. At a time when volunteers were the heart of that service, Dorothy helped create an atmosphere of comfort and hospitality throughout the hospital.

Her contributions have extended well beyond the kiosk. Dorothy has also served as a cashier in the Gift Shop and has played a key role in a wide range of fundraising efforts, including bake sales, raffles, the beloved Poinsettia Sale, and Bangorama.

Today, Dorothy continues to give back from home, knitting items that find their way into the Gift Shop and into the hands of those who need them most.

Dorothy, thank you for your extraordinary commitment to Georgetown Hospital and our community.
